I never really thought that I would love again, it seemed far too much of a risk. Somehow though Ro managed to slip through all the defences without me even noticing. It wasn't that we hadn't met before, we had been part of the same social circle for about a millenia. That day at the hotel pool was probably the first time we'd talked though, really talked. It's hard to believe that something that simple could lead to so much. He is my husband, bondmate, father of my child... part of my very soul.

"Lets just say I took an extreme dislike to the living room. I think I broke my chicken beyond repair this time." He managed a bit of a smile, "How about you? I don't think I've ever seen anyone swim that... intently." Deciding she wasn't even going to ask about the chicken, Silverthorn shrugged a little uncomfortably. "Bad day" she said simply. She paused and stared out across the water for a moment before saying in a quiet voice, "families are strange things at times." Y'roden went quiet for a moment, studying the look on Silverthorn's face. She almost looked... vulnerable, not an expression he had ever seen on the female elf's face before. "Yes they are," he agreed, pushing back the pain that had caused his own little rampage. A smile quirked the edge of his lip, "Try being a D'riel, or being related to the Alcarin's, then you'll see strange." Twisting the lid back onto his flask he set it down. "Anything you want to talk about? I'm a good listener, when I happen to shut up."

"Good," Y'roden said gently, "I was hoping you would." His eyes were a bit dazed, and his fingers slid over the line of her neck to cup the nape of her neck. Leaning in he kissed her softly before he even realized what he was doing. Drawing back he closed his eyes, "I'm sorry... that was rather... forward of me." A slightly stunned expression filled Silverthorn's green eyes as he kissed her. She couldn't have put a proper thought together if her life had depended on it. His comment surprised a laugh out of her, a grin crossing her face. "You were born forward" she said drily. Y'roden laughed and opened his eyes, grinning sheepishly when he caught the amused look in the depths of Silverthorn's eyes. "Well you haven't killed me yet," he chuckled, "I guess I should count myself lucky." His eyes glittered with mischief, "Can I do that again?" And you always like to push your luck too" she said with a wry smile. Then the smile became mischievous, "however, maybe, if you ask nicely." Y'roden grinned, amusement sparkling in his eyes, along with something more. "How is a fellow to get anywhere if he doesn't push his luck once in awhile?" He leaned in close, his mouth a bare inch from hers, "Please, may I kiss you again?" "Yes" she replied softly as one hand moved over his shoulder, her fingers sliding into his hair.

Her eyes opened slowly as he nuzzled against her and a gentle smile crossed her face as she studied him. Without her realising it, all the love she felt for him that she was so afraid to say shone in her green eyes. One finger drew lazy circles on his skin. "Out of curiosity" she asked in quiet amusement, "what was my kidnapper intending to ransom me for?" Opening his eyes Y'roden found himself looking into Silverthorn's, and what he saw there made his heart skip a beat. It took several moments for the question to even register on his mind. "Your heart of course," he said without thinking, "It's worth more to me than any material possession." It seemed for a moment as if her breath had stopped in her throat. Then suddenly the words that she had always found so difficult suddenly seemed easy. "It is yours" she said, her voice almost a whisper, "for as long as you want it." Silverthorn's words sank into his conciousness like honey melting on his tongue. Unexpectedly sweet and overwhelming. "Would eternity be asking too much?," he asked, a breathless quality to his voice making it deeper then his usual baritone. Cupping her face with his hand he leaned in to kiss her, savouring the moment he had been quietly waiting for. "Aminmela ile," he murmured against her lips, "Hilde."

Aminmela ile - I love you
Hilde - Forever

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But forever isn't all it's cracked up to be. Time passed, circumstances changed, differences of opinions became chasms that nothing could bridge and as S'Hea lay dying, and Silverthorn with it, Y'Roden asked Mira and Bran to sever their bond... and he let her go.
