  • Base of spine: Triple moons with the waxing and waning crescents of pure silver and the full moon a white, opalescent moonstone. They feel like metal and polished gemstone to the touch although are clearly more 'alive' and flexible than would perhaps be expected. This is the symbol of the Goddess Nuuruhuine/Ny-emarr.
  • Left Shoulderblade: Ring of black thorns with the rampant dragon in the centre. This is the Mark of Cal'Lanth Blackthorn's Black Guard. (Post COTS)
  • Right Shoulderblade and Back: Tattoo of black dragon with the head resting approximately in the middle of her shoulderblades. The spread wing stretches up towards her right shoulder, the edge of the wing transforming into a flock of ravens. The tail curls around towards her spine and rests approximately mid back. (Post COTS)

Alantha is an out-going individual who can be stubborn and determined. She has a quick temper and can come across as aggressive or even violent. She won't back down from a fight and will stand toe-to-toe with someone, even if at times this is unwise. She is an adrenaline junkie; she thrives on the adrenaline rush of battle and the hunt (see note above), and will actively seek out alternative sources of adrenaline-based entertainment if the former aren't available to her. There is a streak of darkness in her that means she can take enjoyment in things others may find disturbing. Despite appearances, especially given her occasional moments of impulsive hotheadness, she has a quick and dangerous intelligence.

*Skills and Abilities:

Magic: Whilst her magical abilities are widespread and powerful, Alantha has a particular affinity for fire, something she has inherited from both parents and she is able to create and manipulate fire. This can range from handfire or small fireballs through to more powerful, destructive talents that are considered to be war magics. She is also able to create 'mage-lights' that emit light, but not heat, as well as the much rarer liquid, or 'sticky', flame akin to Terran 'Greek Fire' that will cling to whatever it hits and burn through it. Because of this affinity, she will rarely be burned and can even 'pet' fireballs. She has a lesser talent for earth magics, which includes the ability to create earthquakes and volcanism. She also possesses a strong ability for dark magic, which show as black mist/flames/tendrils, and has been trained in this since the age of six years old. When fully unleashed the dark magic is capable of widespread devastation. Like all Kin she possesses the skill of transmutation, or molecular alteration. This magic can be used for healing, however, to use it in such a manner causes the dragon to tire quickly and if used too much can completely exhaust it.
Shapeshifting: Her Badb Catha bloodline gives her the ability to shift into raven form, and her Kin ancestry gives her the ability to shift into dragon form.
Fighting Skills: In addition to her natural ability to form blades and spikes from her own scale in two-legger form, Alantha has been trained in the use of daggers from the age of three years old, with a number of other weapons being added to her repertoire as she grew older. Her natural talent and interest in all forms of combat has been enhanced by training in a wide range of styles by different groups and individuals including the Guard, the Ravens and the Orsha Une, as well as Tah Kata with Ronyan Nyem and Brandyn N'Aelin (Post COTS). She is quick to pick up new techniques and is able to analyse the abilities of other warriors.

*History:
The daughter of Arianne (Silverthorn) Badb Catha and Daemonorel Ashev, and the twin sister of Diemos Ashev, Alantha was born in the Diirlathe on Aerdon. From birth she had been marked with the symbol of the Goddess Nuuruhuine. At the age of seven, Nuuruhuine came for her to begin Alantha's training in the Tauremorna. As a compromise, Silverthorn agreed to have the Ravens come to Blackthorn Keep and for Alantha to begin training with them there. When she was eleven, she was amongst those who found themselves battling disease-spreading zombies on Elemmiire (Plaguewalker) which almost led to the death of her parents. At the age of sixteen she was amongst the 'children' who were brought in during the war on Whispin in a desperate bid to hold back the UnderRealm (Crucible of the Storm). In the rebuilding which followed, she was recruited to Cal'Lanth Blackthorn's newly-formed Black Guard.

Misc Information:
  • Alantha's soul is black and flame-red in colour and in its ground state will often appear to be a mist in form. At the heart of this burns a flame that is the core of the individual's soul. Because of the natural black colouration present in her soul, the black tendrils of her dark magic are less evident than in some others.
  • When using her dark magic, her eyes will turn obsidian black. This colouration spirals out from her pupils until it swamps both her iris and the white of her eye. In some instances, however, a halfway house between this and the Kin'Oth's phosphorescence will occur with black tendrils swirling through her glowing iris like ink in moving water.
  • Alantha has been marked from birth by Nuuruhuine/Ny-emarr. Whilst not currently considered one of the Chosen, she is viewed as being greatly favoured by War.
  • Alantha is naturally right-handed, but because of her training with assorted different kinds of weapons she is essentially ambidextrous.
  • Alantha and Diemos were taken hunting for the first time by their parents shortly after Plaguewalker. Not long after that, Alantha began stalking individuals who caught her eye when she was alone and bored to see how close she could get to them without them knowing. To begin with, these individuals all lived, but during one incident, the individual realised they were being stalked, panicked and ran. Alantha reacted instinctively and that individual ended up dead. Her reaction to this was mixed: she didn't intend to kill them, but she also could not stop thinking about it and eventually could not resist the impulse to do it again. This kicked off a pattern of deliberate hunting, which gradually escalated during the five years between Plaguewalker and Crucible of the Storm from simply stalking and killing people, to indulging in more sadistic, cat-and-mouse style 'play' first. These incidents are all several months apart; in between she uses other risky, adrenaline junkie behaviour as a channel for the impulses. However, the hunting and the sadism in particular are a genuine need for her - not simply the fun and games many Kin indulge in when hunting but which they can ultimately take or leave - and so sooner or later she will feel compelled to satisfy that need again (see note above).
  • Alantha is not a morning person. On a good day, she will merely grumble and growl at being woken. On a bad day, she has been known to be verbally or even physically violent. Be warned, she wakes VERY fast, especially when she's pissed off.
  • Alantha is more likely to drink spirits than beer or wine, with regard to alcohol. She won't drink alcopops because she finds them too sweet and sugary. She also tends not to put ice in alcohol as she doesn't see the point in watering it down.
